Nordwest of Dunabrattin Head, close to Boat Strand is situated Kilmurrin Cove. This is a beautiful small sheltered cove and beautiful beach, very secluded. Definitely worth a stop here whilst driving The Copper Coast.
Kilmurrin Cove is about a 30-minute drive from Waterford city and is on The Copper Coast drive. Situated in a dip between cliffs and is about 3/4 K long. At full tide there is just a small strip of sand however with clear waters, a horseshoe shape, and a steady depth it is perfect swimming for young and old alike. There are usually little waves or seaweed which younger kids are weary of and it never seems as cold as nearby beaches. When the tide is out a sandy shore is exposed in the middle with rock pools and the like at either end. This is a very popular place among surfers and for families with small children. It is one of the safest coves around the southeast coast.
Kilmurrin Beach looks like someone’s private beach. Breathtaking views and you can feel there like in paradise. It was a little overcrowded on the day I was there because of the very hot weather.
There is a viewpoint over this cove, with a decent parking lot.
