Scarefest 2018 – Carlow’s family-friendly Halloween Festival – take place in town from Friday, October 26th to Sunday, November 4th. Events, courtesy of lots of great places in Carlow.
One of the events was Carlow Farmers Market Halloween Event, Saturday 9am-2pm, on Potato Market.
Carlow Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday morning between 9am and 2pm in the Potato Market, Carlow town, a central shopping area. There are a wide variety of producers selling their fresh and local products.
Carlow Farmers Market started trading in July 2004 and is considered unique in that it is one of a few authentic farmers markets where producers are all local, produce their own products and sell mainly their own produce.
Here consumers are offered fresh local produce including: local fruit and vegetables, organic fruit and vegetables, jams, chutneys and juices, organic meat, free range meat and dry cured bacon products, crepes cooked on site, chocolates and truffles, country style butter, quiches and savoury tartlets, traditionally crafted breads and cakes, speciality breads, sweet fare, a range of locally produced cheeses, olives and pesto, fresh fish, free range eggs, summer and winter bedding plants and vegetable and herb plants and other seasonal products.
On Saturday the 27th October, entire Carlow Farmers Market was decorated with Halloween decorations, and the traders put on Halloween costumes. Among the attractions were live music, face painting, pumpkin soup tasting, guess the weight of the pumpkin and Pumpkin Carving Competition.
At this Crazy Carved Pumpkin competition everyone could bring your pumpkin to the market before 10am. The winner was be announced at 1pm. prizes available for scariest, funniest and most ingenious pumpkins.
It was a beautiful Autumn day and Carlow Farmers Market Halloween Event very successful.
