County Carlow is a treasury of magnificent gardens and award-winning garden centers and parks. I recently visited the Arboretum Home & Garden Heaven.
It is located on Old Kilkenny Road in Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow. It is 12,6 km from the town of Carlow.
Arboretum Home & Garden Heaven is a family-run business, founded by Rachel and Frank Doyle in 1978.
Thanks to their great passion for gardening, the Arboretum has become one of Europe’s leading garden centers.
Thanks to its high level of customer service. And also its large range of products Arboretum earned the prestigious title. Including Bord Bia’s first-ever Five Star Gold Garden Centre. Also earned numerous awards including – Best Customer Service and Store of the Year 2015 (with over 600 entries!). Also was named 2019 National Garden Centre of the Year by Retail Excellence Ireland and Irish Loyalty Industry Innovation 2019.

Arboretum Carlow is the flagship store based on a ten-acre site.
This is much more than a place for gardening enthusiasts. Inside is a huge spacious area. Divided into an award-winning garden center. Also, there are parts like kitchen store, home & gift, BBQ & furniture area. Elegant garden furniture, as well as hand-made furniture. Besides the fashion & clothing department. Then Rachel Garden Cafe, potted plants, plants for growing outdoors, and garden tools.
Rachel’s Garden Café is open 7 days a week. And has a wide variety of menu options to cater to all diets. Café is named after owner Rachel Doyle. And cafe’s philosophy is based on her commitment to the use of local produce every day.
Also newly added in 2019 is an outdoor children’s area freely available to all customers.
Designed by Rachel Doyle Inspirational Gardens in Arboretum are free to allow customers to relax after shopping.
Happy owners of their own plots of land, and gardens, will find many inspiring ideas here. Specialists will advise them on how to create an interesting, stylish garden. That is at the same time easy to maintain and requires little maintenance. And is able to meet the most sophisticated requirements.
Arboretum also offers Garden & Plant Workshops given by their expert horticulturists. The perfect opportunity to ask any questions you have and get help with specific problems.
Throughout the year, the Arboretum surprises visitors with some news illustrating the changing seasons in the garden. In Winter, the Centre is full of fabulous ornaments and ideas for Christmas presents. And in Spring and Summer, there are lots of colorful flowers and greenery.
In Arboretum there are very popular annual Easter Events (Little Seeds workshop, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and Easter egg hunt). Then Halloween and Christmas Events (Santa’s arrival via helicopter, live reindeer).
As you can see, the Arboretum is much more than just a garden center.
