Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Carlow 2019 was the fifth parade I attended in Carlow Town.
Ireland’s national feast day is celebrated throughout County Carlow, with a series of parades in honor of St. Patrick, the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Parades take place in Carlow, Graiguecullen, Bagenalstown, Ballon, Borris, and Tullow.
The Parade in Carlow Town commenced 17th of March at 4 o’clock, as planned. From the same starting point as in previous years, the Old Perry’s Cash & Carry premises near Carlow Post Office. Some of those who took part are arriving from earlier parades around the county. The Parade traveled up Kennedy Avenue, turning left onto Potato Market. Then, left onto Tullow Street before turning right onto Dublin Street at the Sue Ryder Shop. And then, left onto Centaur Street to Hay Market where the festival took place from 12 pm -6 pm. Approx. 1,500 people were to attend.
The parade was attended by the Carlow Pipe Band, established in April 2015 after a group of pipers and drummers from the locality. Then, among others: Carlow County Fire Service, Carlow Town Community First Responders, Carlow Civil Defence, Polish Community School, Presentation School Band, Carlow Pride Festival Organization, and DOME Family Entertainment Centre.
Also, the Disney platform, commemorating Carlow’s strong ties with Walt Disney (Walt Disney’s ancestors come from Carlow County), appeared at the Carlow Parade in this year.
I don`t have photos from the Parade in 2019 because I did not recharge my camera on time.
I made only a short video (you can find it on my YouTube channel).
