I attended on Day 2 of The National & World Ploughing Championships 2022. Which took in Ratheniska, County Laois from September 20th – 22nd.
I was lucky because the weather was very good. Among many attractions especially I enjoyed Live Music & Irish Dancing and also the Vintage Display.
As I found out, for over 30 years. There has been a dedicated Vintage displays area at the National Ploughing Championships. Also this year there was a large number of interesting vintage tractors and machinery displays.
There were impressive displays from the two Irish vintage associations: I.V.E.T.A The Irish Vintage Engine & Tractor Association and I.V.S Irish Vintage Society.
The Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Association I.V.E.T.A. was formed in Nenagh Co. Tipperary in 1979. By a group of vintage enthusiasts who wanted to promote the restoration and preservation of all aspects of our heritage. Thanks to that small group of people for their hard work. The association has grown to a membership in excess of 8,000. Some of the founding members are still actively involved in the association. Official website: iveta.ie
The Irish Vintage Society I.V.S is an umbrella group of vintage clubs, groups, and individual enthusiasts interested in the preservation and restoration of old cars, tractors, Farm machinery, public service vehicles, and memorabilia from our social and agricultural heritage.
