After visiting Johnstown Castle, we were looking for some nice place for dinner and we found this wonderful pub called The Coal Bunker Bar.
The Coal Bunker Bar is a family-run bar and restaurant located in Ballykelly, Drinagh in County Wexford.
From the outside, it looks very ordinary but it is a good honest local bar and restaurant with plenty of choice and quality food in a relaxing, friendly environment.
The Coal Bunker Bar has the old cosy indoor pub and the outdoor dining areas which give lots of choice for seating. The food is served all day, Monady – Tueasday: 12 noon – 11.30pm and Wednesday – Sunday: 9.30am – 11.30pm.
They have a range of food: full irish breakfast, chicken, lasagne, noodles, beef burger, staek, duck, fish and chips, sole, seafood, salads, sambos, wraps and ciabattas. Gluten free available and Vegan as well.
The Coal Bunker Bar has also an extensive beer, whiskey and gin menu and the TVs sports. As I saw on their facebook website The Coal Bunker Bar organize often a live music in The Barn which is their entertainment area with rustic charm.
It was Sunday`s afternoon, great atmosphere and poeple watching the match. Even it was not problem to change our sit when it became to cool in The Barn and we went to sit in cosy indoor area.
We enjoyed our food, the portions were very generous, with so much to choose from the menu. I ordered grilled fillets of lemon sole in a rich creamy prawn and scallop cream. And my friend ordered Sunday Specials: darne of salmon in lemon butter souce. All was very tasty, well presented and served by a friendly staff.
