I highly recommend going for lunch and dessert at Rathwood’s The Merry Tree Restaurant.
The MerryTree is a popular, relaxed restaurant serving Rathwood visitors from Breakfast (10 am – 12 pm), until lunch from 12 pm to 2:30 pm. From a light snack to a full meal.
Their lunch menu fuses traditional flavors with the best world foods, emphasizing organic and local produce. They also use McCabe’s coffee, which has been hand-roasting award-winning coffee in Co. Wicklow since 1997. And can offer organic Rathwood wine sourced directly from France.
They can accommodate dietary selections and pride ourselves on our healthy menu options. You can enjoy their luxurious (and famous) cakes knowing they are 100% homemade on-site daily using the best ingredients. Rathwood is famous for its homemade desserts, from pavlova to hazelnut roulade; they have a sweet taste to suit all.
Rathwood’s The Merry Tree Restaurant seats up to 160 people so booking is not required. They also offer a private dining room that seats up to 70 people which can be booked in advance. Free Wifi is available across the restaurant. Their friendly staff can advise you on the different menu options. They offer group bookings, a home catering menu, and takeaway options.

In January 2022 I revisited Rathwood just for lunch and dessert at Rathwood’s The Merry Tree Restaurant.
As all of their ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced, their menus change on a daily basis.
So, for a starter, I had organic vegetable soup with homemade brown soda bread. For the main course, I had Crispy Buttermilk Chicken served with buttered corn on the cob. The food was homemade fresh and delicious. And of course, for dessert, I had amazing Mars Bar Cheesecake.
