Marlfield House, Co. Wexford

Marlfield House in County Wexford is an Irish country house built in 1852. And one of the two houses owned by the Earls of Courtown. It is a charming example of a fine Regency-period house.

Marlfield House was purchased from the Earls of Courtown by Mary and Ray Bowe in 1977. And following extensive restoration involving the introduction of six staterooms was opened as a hotel in 1978. Since then it has become one of the most celebrated luxurious Country House Hotels in Ireland. It has received numerous awards and accolades for its charm, welcome, and cuisine.

Recognized as one of the most luxurious boutique hotels in Wexford, with a focus on environmentally sustainable practices.

Compared to regular hotels, boutique hotels are generally smaller, and more intimate. And usually feature a strong artistic sense and focus on design.

Since 1983, Marlfield House is a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux association of the world’s finest hoteliers, chefs, and restaurateurs that has set the standard for excellence in hospitality.

Moreover, Marlfield House is also a member of Ireland’s Blue Book which is a luxury hotel collection of unique and luxury Country Houses, Historic Hotels, Manor Houses, Castles & Restaurants in Ireland.

The hotel has received many awards including Georgina Campbell Awards: Boutique Hotel & Gardens 2021 and Hotel of the Year 2020. It’s also popular for Irish weddings as well as meetings and events.

Set in 40 acres of manicured gardens, the House encompasses a large kitchen garden, woodland walks, a lake and fowl reserve, lawns, and herbaceous borders.

Free parking is available at the house, and horse riding along Wexford’s scenic trails can be arranged by the hotel. There is a croquet lawn and a tennis court on Marfield’s grounds, along with a lake with swans, ducks, and geese.

Marlfield House is blessed with several acclaimed dining options: the Conservatory Restaurant, The Duck Restaurant, Cafe and Bar, and the Library Bar.
