Clogrennan Wood is a marvellous County Carlow woodland, one of the popular place listed under National Park in Carlow.
It is an old woodland and has had forestry since the 1800’s. The predominant tree species include Beech, Spruce, Larch and Oak with vegetation consistent with that of an old woodland. Depending on the season, you`ll also spot amazing bluebells, fresh ferns, wild garlic and herb rocket in abundance.
Clogrennane Wood is located near Carlow Town and it`s offers a gentle sloping 4km walk on forest roads. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips.
Part of a townland straddling the border of Counties Laois and Carlow, the picturesque Clogrennane Wood Loop takes just one hour to complete. An easy walk over a gentle slope, the terrain consists of forest roads and woodland tracks, crossing pleasant bridges and trickling streams. The trail zig-zags uphill slightly, where magnificent views of Carlow Town and the mighty River Barrow open up.
County Carlow is a treasure trove of walking routes. Looped walks are located throughout the County at Oak Park Forest Park and Clogrennane Wood, both close to Carlow Town, Kilbrannish North and South Forests on the Blackstairs Mountains, Clashganny Forest, south of Borris and Bahana Forest near the village of St. Mullins.
